1992 Porsche 968

1992 Porsche 968

Price: $00,000.00

Known colloquially as the transaxle cars, Porsche’s front-engined entries provided a different entry point for the brand. Beginning with the 924 and the range-topping 928, these cars would be a departure from the rear-engined entries Porsche is known most for. Porsche developed and refined the then-aging 944 and decided to create a new model of it, the 968.

Released in 1991, the 968 would assume the role of an entry-level model for the brand. The 968 was intended to be an everyday car, sporting comfortable seats and interior amenities. Customers could choose between 6-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and have it as a coupe or a convertible. Unlike the 944, the 968 came with exposed, yet recessed headlights similar to those of the 928.

This 1992 example was sold new in Japan and was subsequently traded hands twice in Oman – first to the collection of the Sultan of Oman and Commander of Oman’s Royal Air Force,Matar bin Ali al-Obaidani. Its exterior is finished in Ruby Stone Red over an interior in Black partial leather. Equipped is a 3.0L inline-four engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The odometer indicates just over 25,700 original kilometers (16,000 Mi). Japanese-market touches include enlarged seat bottoms.
